It's been quite a while since I posted here. We are transitioning to summer school here at my house. We are having an 8 week break for "summer school" before transitioning back to our full schedule in mid-July or early August.
During summer, I often take a break from reading the Lives of the Saints to my children, and instead read other Orthodox books. This summer, I started to read a book to them that I had on my shelf called On Earth We're Just Learning How to Live by Archpriest Valentin Biryukov. My children are absolutely loving this book! I am very glad that this is working out because it is a very accessible and age-appropriate way for them to get introduced to the tragedies that occured during the Bolshevik Revolution. The book is also very edifying and encouraging. I am very grateful for the opportunity to read it again! The most memorable story in the book by far is when St. George the Great Martyr himself appeared to open a church! (For even younger children, age 4 to 6 or so, I recommend the book The Miracle of Saint Nicholas by Gloria Whelan as an introduction to this subject.)
The big news is that late next week, Lord willing, I will be releasing a new curriculum! The only clue is that it will not be a workbook/study guide that goes along with an existing book like the other curriculums I have released. This will be something very different from those!
This new curriculum came about because of my own interest in using something just like it for the upcoming school year!
Stayed tuned!!
